Another of our core capabilities is mechanized slab scarfing. The surface of the up to 45-ton crude steel blocks is treated prior to rolling with the aid of new technology allowing direct quality control of the scarfing process. This largely eliminates any need for re-scarfing, and hence the costly rehandling and re-heating of the slabs.
